ABEOKUTA – A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Segun Sowunmi, has called out Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State over what he described as a snail-like movement in governance.

Sowunmi, who is the Spokesperson for the Party’s candidate in the last Presidential Election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, also warned Governor Abiodun against reducing the state to an appendage of any other state.

The former aide to former Governor Gbenga Daniel spoke in an interview on a Facebook live program ’Conscience of The Nation’  monitored by ametrocopy, stressing the need for Governor Abiodun to wake up and get the state moving.

Sowunmi questioned why the Governor had yet to constitute his cabinet wondering if there is a draught of competence individuals in Ogun state.

He urged Abiodun to realize that people of Ogun state are not in the business of playing second fiddle.

“We are always either first or second. In 1999, Olusegun Osoba was governor, Osoba was first, his rural integration program was first.”

“In 2007 when Justus Olugbenga Daniel was Governor, he was not just first in Ogun, he was first in Nigeria.

In 2011, 2015, who are you going to score better than Kunle.” “If we are not first, we are a close second.”

“Will Dapo tell me he has outdone Makinde of Oyo state who is now the first among them all.”

According to Sowunmi, OGD took the state from the sleepy civil service mentality and Amosun stretched the development further.

He said the majority of the people he has spoken with do not think the Governor is prepared for government.

While taking shade at Hon Lanre Edun, representing Abeokuta South Local Government in the state assembly for his passive nature, Sowunmi wondered why opposition party members have often failed to play effective opposition.
