SOKOTO – House of Representatives Committee on Air Force says the Army is investigating a reported fracas between its personnel and suspected Islamic Movement of Nigeria youths in Mabera area of Sokoto, Sokoto State, which led to the unfortunate killing of two persons within the community.
The Chairman House Committee on Air Force Honorable Shehu Koko, his deputy, Honorable Abass A. Adigun, and other members of the committee made this known when they paid a condolence visit to Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, Sultan of Sokoto and families of the slain civilians.
Hon Abass Adigun said, “There has been an allegation of the unfortunate killing of two persons at Mabera area of Sokoto as a result of a fracas between Nigeria Air Force personnel and suspected Islamic Movement of Nigeria youths within the community.
However, the details of the unfortunate incident, which also led to some Nigeria Air Force personnel sustaining serious injuries, are still sketchy.
“Consequently, the Nigeria Air Force is investigating the matter with a view to ascertaining the facts as well as establishing the degree of involvement of its personnel. It is pertinent to reiterate that the Nigeria Air Force is a highly disciplined and professional force that does not tolerate or condone acts of indiscipline or violations of human rights of citizens.
