2020: APC Oyo Zone holds meeting, calls for peace and collaboration

IBADAN – All Progressives Congress, APC, Oyo Zone held its annual meeting on Monday, Jan 6. 2020 at the Fiditi club hall, Fiditi, in Afijio local government area of Oyo state.

The meeting, which coincided with the New Year celebration of a former Commissioner in Oyo state, Bimbo Kolade, was attended by hundreds of party stalwarts.

The Minority Leader at the Oyo state House of Assembly, Honourable Asimiu Alarape, frowned at the present selection of party members for federal appointments, explaining that members who had been consistent in their loyalty and labor for the party and largely qualified were left out. 

Other speakers at the meeting were Elder S.M Akindele and Hon Leke Oyatokun.

Akindele called on the leader of the party in the state, former Governor Abiola Ajimobi to do more in uniting the party. 

While Hon Leke Oyatokun, a former member of the OYHA eulogized the present members of the party in the state assembly for their roles during the controversial screening of the caretaker nominees, another Chieftain of the party, Prince Olanite commended the state ALGON for their handling of the issues revolving around the Local Government elections and administration in the state. 

Others called for concerted efforts, especially between party chieftains and their elected public office holders, at ensuring that the lost glory of the party in the state was restored Stating that the Oyo Central Senatorial district was strategic for the re-emergence of the party.

The former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy matters, Bimbo Kolade admonished members of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state not to relent in their efforts at fostering peace and progress within the party.

Reacting to the issue of federal appointments, Kolade appealed to the elders of the zone to embrace dialogue with party leaders at the state level.

The annual New Year celebration had in attendance hundreds of party stalwarts from across the zone and was chaired by Akin Ojebode.
