Ibadan – An Ibadan Chief, Mogaji Babatunde Soares, has commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde on efforts so far made to tackle insecurity across the state.
Soares, who is the Mogaji Oloyooyo Idikan, spoke with ametrocopy.com in reaction to the recent spate of killings in the state and the newly constituted Security Network Board by the state government.
Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday inaugurated Governing Board of Amotekun in a bid to tackle insecurity in the state and promote regional security.
The former Chairman, Governing Council, College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, while acknowledging the challenges of insecurity in the nation called for maximum involvement of the traditional Chiefs and the Mogajis in stemming the tide ‘as security is a collective responsibility.’
According to the legal practitioner and retired eminent Banker, the Mogajis have a robust knowledge of their households therefore monitoring and controlling the activities of their wards will be easier.
Chief Soares also called for periodic meetings between the government, the Landlord Associations, and the Mogajis for briefings and exchange of ideas to strengthen community-based security.
