Ubuntu is an African philosophy that places emphasis on ‘being self through others’. It is a form of humanism that can be expressed in the phrases ‘I am because we are, it places less emphasis on self and acknowledges the roles of others in whatever level of feat attained by a person.
This concept defines the style of Hon Abass Adigun Agboworin a lawmaker representing Ibadan South East and North East at the lower chamber of the National Assembly not only because he has been providing quality representation but for his passion to ensure that his constituents are empowered and enjoy the dividends of democracy.
Agboworin, as he is fondly called, has since his election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP been a blessing to his constituents, he has moved motions and bills as well as facilitated projects, training, and economic empowerment for members of his constituency.
In February 2020, Agboworin empowered youths in Mechanised Agric-farming business with start-up cash, which of today, many of the youths are into farming and livestock rearing business. Women were empowered under the initiative named “Agboworin Support Women Scheme” cash was given to support their different businesses including market women and traders.
In 2021, Hon. Abass Adigun empowered youths, women, widows, special peoples, market men, and women with over 150 million worth of items, equipment, and start-up cash which took place at Oke-Badan High School including procurement of 2 new ambulances for checking of basic care and health issues like malaria, diabetes and high blood pressure.
Rep. Member Abass Adigun Agboworin, outstanding performance is a testament to his resolve to add value to the wellbeing of the people and he is assiduously doing that with all passion.
Months ago, he facilitated light-up of market places, communities, and streets with solar-powered street lights, construction of a block of six classrooms, drilling of an industrial borehole in different communities, installed 500kva transformer in Ilupeju/Ajibola community which are in darkness before the present administration and many other ongoing projects.
Recently he distributed items worth over a 200million naira to over 700 members of his Constituency, this is apart from previous ones and other things including the provision of financial support as well as securing jobs for some members of his constituency.
He demonstrated his exemplary humanitarian spirit recently when at a forum a member of his constituency approached him, having understood what the guy wanted he dipped his hand into his pocket and gave him money but the guy said “Ejoor mo fe fi ra school bag at iwe ni” Agboworin never bother to ask he returned his hand into his pocket and gave the guy something worthwhile, unlike some politician who will send the guy away, Agboworin did not look at the guy’s condition he gave him what he knows will be enough, that is not just the spirit of oneness but a mind that loves progress.
Some of his blind critics are fond of condemning every action of this great son of Ibadan but deep down them they envy him because he has through his humanitarian service and quality representation broke their stronghold and opened people’s eyes to what good governance is all about and they are willing to support him for another term because he is not only delivering on the mandate but complementing the efforts of governor Seyi Makinde in making Oyo state a place of pride which sets the pace for others.
He is acquainted with the nitty-gritty and modus operandi of Representation and Legislation. He is meeting up the expectations of the people in all ramifications.
In conclusion, one good turn deserves another, Hon Agboworin’s contributions to his constituency and advancement of the people are too numerous to wish away, and it is obvious that he will do more if allowed again, let us all in the spirit of oneness and progress support him for another term.
