‘He was a father, custodian of Yoruba tradition, and a nationalist”-Oyo Minority Leader, Alarape mourns Alaafin

Ibadan – The Minority Leader, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Asimiyu Alarape has described the death of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III as a great loss to Oyo town, Oyo State, Yoruba Nation, and Nigeria as a whole.

The lawmaker who is a former speaker of the State House of Assembly described the monarch as a father, a Democrat, and a nationalist noting that Alaafin would be greatly missed for his wealth of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding of the Yoruba culture and traditions.

The former speaker representing the Atiba state constituency described the late Alaafin as “a father, custodian of Yoruba tradition, a colossus, a democrat, prodigy of erudition, and a nationalist”.

Alarape maintained that Alaafin was a monarch whose knowledge and experience had during his lifetime cared for cohesion, unity, and peaceful coexistence of Nigeria.

He described him as a courageous and selfless man who would be sorely missed.
