Ibadan – The Oyo State House of Assembly Minority leader, Hon Asimiyu Alarape, has called for fervent prayers for peace and tranquility in the state and in Nigeria as a whole.
Alarape made the call as he felicitates Muslim ummahs across the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid El Adha.
The former Speaker of the Oyo Assembly noted that the best way to celebrate this year’s festival is to be thankful to Almighty Allah and to seek his face for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria and Nigerians.
‘We are grateful to God for sparing our lives to witness this year’s Eid El Kabir. Many waters have passed under the bridge in our nation and state with the prevailing insecurity and dastardly acts being perpetrated by the enemies of our country, the lawmaker representing Atiba state constituency noted.
‘The best way to celebrate is to fervently pray to God to restore Nigeria and give us victory over those who have decided to cause us pains and untold hardship.’
While commiserating with the families of those still in captivity, he called on Muslims to extend a hand of love to the less privileged among them and show love as exemplified by the prophet.
‘We must know that fingers are not equal, so, let us remember to dine and wine with the less privileged around us. Let us leave one behind as we eat and drink today. It is also important for us to be moderate and rededicate ourselves to the service of Allah in our various capacities’, Alarape admonished.
‘I wish all my constituents, my co-lawmakers, Oyo state, and indeed all Nigerians Eid El Kabir. May Allah’s Ramah never depart from us’, he prayed
