The Salt is a movie about the impact Christians should make in society, politically, and in their chosen professions, as well as the consequences of their actions or inactions.

Written and produced by versatile actress, Adenike Akande, it was inspired by the Bible calling Christians ‘the salt of the earth. Salt is needed for taste, the absence of salt in any food will make the food tasteless.’

According to the soft-spoken and delectable Akande, the movie available on Adenike Akande’s Youtube Channels on September 11. It features popular Christian acts like Korede Are, Rotimi Amodu, Femi Olushina, Ayobami Adegboyega, and Sunkanmi Solomon.

Also featured are Segun Adedare, Gbenga Ayoola, Adenike Adebayo, Tobi Bambe, Sayo Olugbemi, Sesan Afolayan, Shade Fadiji, and Taiwo Solomon, among others.

Akande stressed the need for Christians to watch Christian movies so the industry can surmount the challenge of funding.

‘The major challenge is funding. Many Christians do not watch Christian films because quality productions require money. Producers of secular films are sure of getting their cost of production back with profit but gospel film production is not like that.’

She shared some challenges she encountered during the production of the movie.

‘As a teacher, I had to save and budget meticulously. In fact, I couldn’t afford to get a drone on set. The drone shots in the film were taken much later after I had finished paying off the contributions.’

‘Christians should patronize Christian films and Producers should also put in their best, she advised.

The Salt is her first production but she has acted in other Christian films like Oba Ana produced by the Kwara State chapter of Ancedram, The Lamentation of Rufus produced by Sesan Afolayan, and Not an Orphan by Daddy Odeshola apart from several ‘waka pass’ roles in some other productions.

Akande is also a singer and a teacher and she has released two albums so far.

She admonished ministers to ‘run the race with our eyes on Jesus and our hearts set like a flint.’
