Bodija blast: Agbemob commiserates with victims, calls for calm, thorough investigations

Ibadan – Members of Agbegba/Ajetumobi Youth Forum, Agbemob, have commiserated with the families that lost loved ones and properties in the deadly explosion that rocked the Adeyi area of Bodija Estate, Ibadan.

Residents around Bodija estate were thrown into panic when a deadly explosion took place on the evening of Tuesday, 16th January 2024, with the attendant sound reverberating across major parts of the ancient city.

As of Wednesday night, the death toll has increased from the initial 15, as the injured are being treated at UCH.

The Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde blamed the activities of illegal miners for the unfortunate incident.

In a release signed by its President and General Secretary, Oluwafunsho Adediran and Owoola Abass, Agbemob extended heartfelt condolences to the relatives of the victims while calling for thorough investigations into the remote and immediate cause of the blast.

The forum urged the public to be calm as the Government and relevant security authorities determine the next line of action.

While praying for the repose of the souls of the departed, Agbemob called for more vigilance and security consciousness among the citizenry.
