Ibadan – The trio of Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Special Adviser to the Governor on Constituency Matters and Chairman of Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Pastor Akinade Alamu, have commended the lawmaker representing Ibadan North East/Ibadan South East federal constituency, Hon. Abass Adigun Agboworin for the distribution of education materials to primary and secondary school students, saying his investment in education is commendable.

At the event, which held at Lagelu Grammar School, Ibadan, on Monday, some of the invited guests and other stakeholders in the education sector spoke in turns to appreciate the laudable feat achieved by the lawmaker.

Hon. Dare Adeleke, who spoke glowingly of the lawmaker, described Agboworin as the ‘Star Boy’ of the Ibadan North East/South East federal constituency, as a result of his practical commitment and dedication to the interest of the people he represents.

Speaking further, he tagged the distribution of the education materials as ‘distinguished and God’s own project’ which, according to him, would go a long way in motivating the students to take their studies serous.

Adeleke, while maintaining that the people of the federal constituency are enjoying the quality representation of Agboworin, noted that the lawmaker has, no doubt, given to the people much more than he has given himself.

He called upon other stakeholders and political functionaries to emulate the lawmaker, with a view to spreading the dividends of democracy across to heterogenous population of people in the state.

In his words: “In the last two years, hardly will you see two months go by when Agboworin would not touch lives of his people with notable and distinguished project. For this reason, I would not call this particular project an enormous one but would tag it ‘God’s Own Project’.

“I decided to give it the tag because he is the Starboy of Ibadan North East and South East federal constituency. For this reason, I want to urge House of Representatives members, House of Assembly members and other political appointees who Governor Seyi Makinde has given that honour to start emulating this gentle man, Agboworin.

“It is very important that we all give back to the people and that is what Agboworin is doing today. I believe he has given people so much than he would have given to himself. So, I want to congratulate you for this laudable programme you have embarked upon.

“May God continue to bless you. May God continue to bless our leader, governor Seyi Makinde, who has choosen you as our representative. We are indeed finding things easy and enjoying your representation in this constituency.

“On behalf of everyone of us in the North East and South East Federal Constituency, I want to say thank you.”
On the part of the Commissioner for Education, Professor Saliu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, expressed gladness over the development, lauding Agboworin for deeming it fit to advance the scope of education in his constituency.

He said: “I am highly elated about this development coming from Rep Agboworin because I know that the best investment anybody can give is education. To me, doing things like this means a lot. I picked interest in Agboworin for deeming it fit on education advancement. I want you to continue with what you are doing.

“I want to seize today’s opportunity to urge all political leaders in the state to give back to these children. We need to do something about the future of our children. That is why I said I must be in this programme and because the governor is also keenly interested in the development of education in the state.

“To our students, you are fortunate. We had this opportunity about 40 years ago during the time of late Bola Ige and that was what made us what we are today. That is why we ask leaders what they can bring to the education sector. This is my second time of meeting him and I am not disappointed at all.

“I will keep on using him to campaign to other political leaders, especially in the area of education in Oyo State for the sake of the children. Others have to emulate him.”

Pastor Akinade Alamu of TESCOM, in the same vein, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker, saying Agboworin has made himself become one of the favorites of Governor Makinde as a result of his performance, representation and delivery in his constituency.

“I am not really surprised because he has been doing well in this area before now and I know he will continue. I am saying this not because I am from the North East area but because He has been performing wonderfully well, and that is why he is one of the favorites of Governor Seyi Makinde,” he stated.

A few party leaders, in their seperate remarks, thanked the lawmaker for deeming it fit to distribute materials worth of millions at a time when the nation is going through hard times in all sectors of human endeavours.

Akintayo Ibrahim; the PDP Chairman Of Ibadan North East, Alhaji Fatokun Isiaka Abuye; PDP Vice Chairman of Ibadan South East, Chief Olayinka Banjo; Agboworin Campaign Director General, Hon.
