…The brains to develop Oyo state reside in the state

Ibadan – Prince Kayode Oyetunde Bayewuwon (PKOB) has revealed that the 1979 election crisis piqued his interest in politics at the tender age of seven.

The Chairman PKOB Foundation also disclosed that the speeches of the late Sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, at various fora formed the basis for his political voyage.

Speaking at a media parley in Ibadan, the Ogbomoso Prince recalled how he monitored the political space in 1979 at such a tender age wondering how the late Awolowo lost the election.

‘I will sit with NTA news and hear what this man had to say about developing the future of Nigeria. From Obafemi Awolowo’s philosophy, I was drawn to politics’, he said.

‘At such a young age I wondered how this man would say these much about what he wants to do for Nigeria and people still could not vote for him’.

Born on October 28 1972, in Lagos, Prince Kayode Bayewuwon earned a National Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics from The Polytechnic Ibadan before proceeding to Ondo State University where he obtained a Higher National Diploma in Accounting. He later went to the United Kingdom where obtained another qualification in Supply and Logistics Management.

He officially joined active politics at the age of 18 in Mafoluku Lagos where he contested for Councillorship position at the age of 18 and 21.

Aside politics, his philanthropic gestures include renovation of Primary health care centers, sponsoring sports competitions, Installation of boreholes, and provision of scholarships across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State.

On his political ambition, the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress stressed his commitment to public service noting that committees have been set up to work on policy documents.

‘We are a group of people ready to serve. We started with consultations and the next phase is engaging the public through the media’s, he said.

While acknowledging the role of the media in nation building and the development of democracy, the Political aspirant said ‘the media is a very key part of government because they are the ones to communicate the policies of the government to the people’s.

Bayewuwon expressed hope in the State’s capacity, noting that ‘with the right leadership, the state could harness it’s human and capital resources for growth and development’.

‘The brains to develop Oyo state reside in the state’, he declared.

He rued the state of Education in the state wondering why students ‘graduate with less than five credits when extra help can be deployed to improve them’.

‘My passion to help informed my recent activities, and to the people of Oyo State; joy has come’, he concluded.
