Ibadan – Oyo lawmaker, Asimiyu Alarape has urged Muslim Ummah to emulate the patience and endurance of the Prophet Muhammad, with which he propagated Islam.

Alarape stated this while felicitating Muslim Ummah in the state as they join the rest of the Islamic World in marking the commencement of the new Islamic year, Hijrah 1444 AH.

The Oyo Assembly Minority leader urged them to use the occasion to appreciate Almighty Allah for the privilege of witnessing another year.

The Atiba state constituency representative maintained that the occasion is a reminder of what Hijrah represents in the lives of Muslims in which the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had to migrate from Makkah to Medina after much persecution.

According to the former Speaker, the Prophet’s endurance and steadfastness eventually paid off as he established an Islamic state in Madina.

Alarape, therefore, charged Muslims and indeed all Nigerians to be patient and steadfast in the face of the myriads of challenges bedeviling the country noting that after every difficulty comes great relief.

‘We should be grateful to God for counting us worthy to see another year, regardless of the challenges we face as a nation because only the living can celebrate, the lawmaker said.

‘It is another opportunity to pray and seek Allah’s face for mercy and prosperity for our state and our nation. We must not be tired of praying for the prosperity and safety of Nigeria and Nigerians because we have no other country.’

‘I wish every one of us a happy new year, he concluded.
