Ibadan – The Governor of Oyo State, Engr Seyi Makinde has assured that relevant institutions have been put in place to ensure government policies outlive the present administration.
The Governor spoke at the Stakeholders Engagement on Safety on Our Roads and Security in Our Neighborhoods, organized by the Oyo State Mobilisation Agency For Socio-Economic Development, OYMASED.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Adebayo Lawal Esq, the governor said the administration is ‘not particularly bothered about the infrastructure we are putting in place, but we are bothered about the institutions we are putting in place’, adding that OYMASED is one of such institutions put in place to address the challenges in the society.
Speaking on the theme: “Security At home, Safety on our roads”, the Governor said his administration has established strong institutions such as OYMASED, the Oyo State Project Monitoring Agency Bill; The Rule of Law Enforcement Agency among others.
According to Governor Makinde, “The major legacy of our administration will be the creation of institutions that will ensure that the state continues well into the future.”
“Our legacy will be the institutions that we are able to create to ensure that Oyo State will continue well into the future to enjoy good governance,” he said.

Speaking earlier, the Director General, OYMASED, Morohunkola Thomas Esq, restated the commitment of the agency to achieving its core responsibilities which include but not limited to ensuring that Government programs and policies are better understood by the general public and sensitizing the public against social vices and misconducts.
He commended Governor Makinde on the new agency, which he described as an extra layer of protection to ensure that society gets better.
He said the event kickstarts the Agency’s various programmes aimed at bringing back core values, which have been relegated to the background over the years.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ayodele Sonubi, represented by ACP Vaughan Omololu, the Director Oyo NOA, Dr Olukemi Afolayan and the state Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, commended OYMASED for the engagement and harped on the need for collaboration to end social vices and encourage the ethos of ‘omoluabi’ among the people.
