Ibadan – As Nigerians join the rest of the world to observe this year’s Ramadan, the Minority Leader at the Oyo state House of Assembly, Honorable Asimiyu Alarape, has enjoined muslim faithful to embrace peace and extend love to one another.

Alarape who noted that this year’s Ramadan is significant as it came immediately after the conclusion of the nation’s electoral process, said it is also a good time to lift the nation and the incoming administration before the Almighty Allah in prayers.

‘It is interesting that the Holy Month is coming immediately after our elections. We should use the opportunity to pray for our dear country and those who have been elected to lead us for the next four years’.

According to the lawmaker representing Atiba state constituency, it is imperative for Nigerians to pray for divine leading and direction for the nation to attain desired status in the comity of nations.

‘We all have our desires for the country and it will only be achieved by prayers and hardwork’.


The former Speaker charged muslim faithful to also use the period to extend love to the less privileged and the needy around them. 

‘The needy will always be with us and Allah SWT expects us to cater for them. Let’s endeavour to do so this Ramadan’, Alarape concluded.
