IBADAN – A former Commissioner in Oyo state, Abimbola Adekambi, has lashed out at politicians who pay lip service to youths’ empowerment by buying clippers and motorcycles, popularly known as Okada as forms of empowering the teeming youth.
Adekanmbi, a former Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Planning, who at the weekend spent one of his evenings with youths in Ibadan, the State Capital, discussed his various plans to engage and harness the untapped resources in the youths.
Adekanmbi with the youths at Carlton Gate Hotel, Idi – Ape in Ibadan discussed issues bordering on the state and nation’s youth with his plans to share some of the burdens of government through modern empowerments.
He said it’s time politicians, Philanthropists added technology education and career talks to empowerment given to youths.
“Imagine a situation where we have an E-platform, where we can engage thousands of our youths on technologies and career talks, as this is having impacts on students and educated unemployed, so also the local community empowerment will be serving the uneducated youths,” Adekambi said.
“The world is now a global village, the situation has gone beyond focusing on buying clippers, buying Okada for youths as empowerment, a rich word of mouth can change the life of a growing youth for good. We need to add up innovations too.
” Efforts is ongoing, we will soon come up with a programme which will serves as a transformative and empowering force capable of showing ways of empowering our youths in the state and the rest of the nation, for improving youth welfare and revitalizing communities.” Mr. Adekambi added.
Speaking at the end of the gathering, Adekanmbi expressed joy and satisfaction for the opportunity to mingle with youths of like minds.
It will be recalled that Bimbo Adekanmbi recently commenced the process of obtaining 300 free Jamb forms for selected students in Ibadan.
