Ibadan – The Presidency has dismissed claims that a photograph showing President Bola Tinubu with Rwandan President Paul Kagame during a recent meeting in Paris was generated using artificial intelligence.
According to the Presidency, the narrative circulating in some media reports and on social media platforms is a misrepresentation of facts.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, clarified that the image in question is genuine.
Resign as minister to face Rivers politics, APC scribe tells Wike
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ajibola Basiru, has slammed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, urging him to resign from his ministerial position and face his “obsession with Rivers politics and the APC”.
In a statement on Monday, Basiru declared that Wike has no standing to involve himself in any APC political matters until he formally joins the party.
He also rejected Wike’s claim that he is motivated by the N600 billion in the coffers of Rivers State government, emphasizing that he is not an opportunist and has consistently taken principled positions.
Wike to APC national secretary: steer clear of Rivers politics
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has cautioned the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, to steer clear of political affairs in Rivers State.
Wike’s warning followed comments attributed to Basiru, who had cautioned the APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, against what he described as disrespect towards Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, allegedly to curry favour with Wike.
Basiru’s remarks came after the minister’s recent “thank you” visit to Gokana Local Government Area.
Reacting while addressing residents of Oyigbo Local Government Area, Wike advised Basiru and other politicians to desist from actions capable of igniting tension in the state.
Court grants EFCC approval to freeze N30.7m linked to alleged NNPC fraud
The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to temporarily forfeit the sum of N30.7 million linked to the alleged fraud perpetrated in the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to the Federal Government.
Justice Emeka Nwite, in a ruling on the ex-parte motion moved by EFCC’s counsel, Emenike Mgbemele, on Monday, held that the application was meritorious and accordingly granted.
The judge ordered that the interim order of forfeiture be published in a national daily for interested persons to show cause within 14 days why the funds should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government, and adjourned the matter till January 22 for report of compliance.
Killings: Niger urges calm as terrorists issue fresh threat
Residents of several communities in Agwara and Borgu Local Government Areas of Niger State are fleeing their homes amid fears of renewed attacks after terrorists reportedly issued fresh threats following last Saturday’s massacre that left over 40 people dead.
Villagers told The PUNCH that the assailants warned they would continue the killings, triggering panic and displacement across border communities linking Agwara, Borgu and Kebbi State.
The residents alleged that soldiers deployed to the affected areas withdrew shortly after their arrival, leaving communities without visible security presence.
Villagers from Kwana, the last village in Agwara LGA, and Tungan Salama, near Papiri in Borgu LGA, said they had received credible information that the terrorists were planning to strike again.
Joshua may quit boxing after car crash — Uncle
Former world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is seriously considering retirement from boxing, according to his uncle, Adedamola Joshua, who exclusively told our correspondent, The PUNCH reports.

Moves by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to scuttle the 2027 re-election bid of his successor, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, appear to have suffered a setback as several All Progressives Congress governors rallied behind the embattled Fubara.
Multiple sources in the APC confirmed to The PUNCH on Monday that the renewed hostilities between Wike and Fubara were ignited by some top APC governors’ decision to back Fubara’s second term bid, a development the FCT minister found galling and is bitterly opposed to.
The latest development was further compounded by the APC leadership’s endorsement of Fubara, who appeared to have endeared himself to the party’s top echelons, many of whom have been praising his projects across the state.
Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland dies
The leader of the Hausa community, also known as Sarkin Hausawa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Ali Ɗahiru Zungeru is dead.
DAILY POST gathered that Zungeru died Monday evening.
It was reported that Zungeru was turbaned few months ago.
