Ibadan – The pupils and teachers abducted by gunmen in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State have regained their freedom after spending more than 50 days in captivity.
The development was announced on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, in a post on his verified X handle.
“Finally, the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo, have been freed by their abductors,” Onanuga wrote.
Although details surrounding their release were still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, the announcement has brought relief to families and residents who had anxiously awaited their return.
