President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, DSS to track down and apprehend the perpetrators of the Kasuwan Daji attack, ensuring they are swiftly brought to justice.
The directive was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by Tinubu’s media aide Bayo Onanuga.
It was reported that terrorists launched a deadly attack in a village market in Kabe District, Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State on Sunday killing nearly 40 persons.

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has called on the federal government to put an end to killings of innocent Nigerians by terrorists.
Obi, in a post on his X handle, @PeterObi on Sunday night, described weekend killings in Niger state as horrific.
The ADC chieftain cautioned that maiming and killings of innocent Nigerians should not be taken as a normal way of life, submitting that “the protection of lives must remain the foremost responsibility of government.”
Gunmen demand N200m ransom for kidnapped brothers in Edo
Kidnappers, who abducted two brothers, Ibrahim and Tahir Abu in Auchi, Estako West local government area, have demanded a ransom of N200m.
Father of the victims, Momoh Tahir, said the kidnappers contacted the family to demand the ransom on Sunday morning.
Tahir stated that the ransom was reduced to N100m.
Ex-AGF Aondoakaa calls for US air strikes in Benue
Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aondoakaa, has called on the United States government to extend its air strikes to Benue State to flush out terrorists and bandits operating in the area.
Aondoakaa made the call during a consultation dinner with political stakeholders in Makurdi on Friday night, which ended in the early hours of Saturday.
The event was attended by leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.
The former AGF said the call had become necessary due to what he described as the growing presence of terrorists in Benue State.
Benue Mopol 13 office, armoury gutted by fire
The office and armoury of the Mobile Police 13 (Mopol 13) unit of the Nigeria Police Force in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, were on Sunday gutted by fire.
An eyewitness told journalists that the fire, which started around 10.30 a.m. on Sunday, destroyed several office rooms and the armoury section.
The police facility was engulfed in flames, with the office buildings and armoury completely razed to ashes.
The eyewitness, who spoke to journalists at the scene of the incident but did not want his name in print, explained that the fire started from one of the offices.
Although the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the command has confirmed the incident.
The command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, who confirmed the incident, promised to get back to journalists.

Pearse issued the warning during an interview on Arise Television on Sunday, where he cautioned that electoral malpractice could attract serious global consequences.
According to him, the era of unchecked election rigging is coming to an end, stressing that international institutions and powerful global actors would not ignore any attempt to undermine Nigeria’s democratic process.

Speaking with The Atlantic, Trump claimed the Danish territory is “surrounded by Russian and Chinese ships”.

NEMA confirms 25 dead, 14 missing in Yobe boat mishap
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has disclosed that 25 persons have died and 14 others are missing following a boat mishap in Nguru LGA in Yobe State.
According to NEMA, 13 people were rescued after the mishap occurred around 7:48 p.m. on Saturday.
The canoe was conveying 52 passengers travelling from Adiyani town in Guri LGA of Jigawa State to Garbi town in Nguru LGA of Yobe State.
PDP leaders set conditions for reconciliation as crisis lingers
Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party have outlined far-reaching conditions for reconciliation as consultations intensify to resolve the party’s lingering internal crisis, with issues surrounding party structure, the conduct of another convention, public apologies and other fundamental reforms taking centre stage in ongoing deliberations.
Members of both the Tanimu Turaki (SAN)– and Abdulrahman Mohammed-led factions of the National Working Committee, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to comment publicly on the issue, confirmed to The PUNCH that discussions to resolve the crisis were still at an early stage. Options being considered, they said, include convening a National Executive Committee meeting or holding another national convention.
PDP governors had thrown their weight behind the Ibadan convention, where Turaki and other members of the National Working Committee were elected on November 16 for a four-year tenure.
Police invites Pastor Chris Okafor as probe into sexual misconduct allegations begins
The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has opened an investigation into allegations of multiple rape and other conduct against Pastor Chris Okafor.
The clergyman is expected to appear at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, on Monday for interrogation. Police confirmed on Sunday night that a letter of invitation had been served on his legal representative, asking him to report to the SCID on Monday, 5th January 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday night, the police spokesperson in the state, Abimbola Adebisi, called on alleged victims of the pastor’s sexual assault to come forward and assist with the investigation.
