IBADAN – Africa Action Congress, AAC, has revealed why its leader and Presidential Candidate in the February 23, 2019 election, Omoyele Sowore, has yet to meet the bail bond of #50 million.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on October 21, 2019, reduced the bail terms handed to the Convener of  #Revolution now protest and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare.

Justice Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, the presiding judge, reduced Sowore’s bail bond to N50m down from N100m and also reduced Bakare’s bail from N50m to N20m.

Sowore was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) on August 3, 2019 for calling for nationwide protests, tagged RevolutionNow, against the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government.

The DSS accused him of plotting to overthrow a democratic government and arraigned the Sahara Reporters founder on Monday, September 30, on a seven-count charge bordering on treasonable felony and money laundering.

The AAC also maintained that the incarceration of its leader, Omoyele Sowore by the Federal Government has not in any way destabilized the party but instead has strengthened the resolve of the members to achieve a better Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with ametrocopy, the South West Coordinator of ‘Take it back movement’ Comrade Rotimi Ogunlana, revealed that efforts are on to ensure that the convener of #Revolution now protest meets his bail conditions of #50 million adding that Sowore is exercising restraints from accepting help from some individuals who have extended a helping hand for fear of indebtedness.

“Many people are willing to help but we are trying to avoid a situation where somebody with a questionable character will come and rescue him and at the end of the day, he will be indebted to them. As I am talking to you, we have sureties who are of good character who are willing to stand for him”.

Ogunlana said members of the party will recognize no other leader apart from Sowore adding that the struggle of the party cuts across political and ethnic divides.

Comrade Ogunlana, who doubles as the Oyo state Chairman of the Party, admitted there were internal wranglings within the party long before the arrest of Sowore.

“The impostor I am talking about was being used by a major politician, you know if you are hundred in a place, there will always be a Judas. All his malicious attempts were dead on arrival.

We are one and we believe in the ideology of Omoyele Sowore. Even the other politicians fighting him respect him”.

“Omoyele Sowore is a Pan Africanist, a real patriot, he lived in the US for 19 years, he does not have an American passport, he has the interest of Africa at heart because he believes we have the resources to be better”

While describing the race to bail Sowore as a Nigerian Project, Ogunlana said quite a number of people in Nigeria and Diaspora have donated to meet the requisite.
