National Assembly is always thorough on scrutiny of Bills in the interest of Nigerians, Tax Reform Bills won’t be an exception – Senator Yunus Akintunde

Ibadan – Senator Yunus Akintunde has assured Nigerians that their interest and welfare on any issue that required legislative consent will always be paramount and foremost at the National Assembly.

Dr Akintunde the Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central is the Chairman of Senate House Committee on Environment, an expert in Energy matters, financial and human capital development was emphatic in his contributions on the lingering debates at the various submissions on the Tax Reform Bills presently in the Senate for legislative consent.

“We at the Senate and in conjunction with members of the House of Representatives are committed to Nigerians as regards this Tax Reform Bills or any other bill with assurances that our legislative functions will always ensure detailed and comprehensive scrutiny, evaluation and assessment to aid necessary amendments in the interest of the citizenry and the entire Nation which is our primary responsibility with unwavering commitments as your representatives”.

“This is why the National Assembly has invited financial experts and professionals to join our internal mechanism for a thorough scrutiny and understanding of the nitty gritty of the Bills as presented and we are not in a hurry to pass those bills however lofty the ideals might be suggesting until we are sure the interests of Nigerians and our economy are widely and adequately covered”.

“The tax reform bills passed for second reading after several presentations and analysis have clarified the benefits and multiplier effect of the implementation of the contents and processes at various retreats where we had useful deliberations and interactions with the various stakeholders and experts”.

“The opportunity for active involvement and contributions on evaluation and assessment towards necessary amendments has now been provided to Nigerians in the public and private sectors now that the bills have been sent forward to public hearing, I implore us to take advantage of this inclusiveness without prejudice or bias.” He admonished.
